Three cities in Michigan set temperature records for Thursday, Dec. 4, and Friday morning, Dec. 5, as Arctic air descended on the state.
On Dec. 4, Marquette set a record-low high temperature of 12 degrees for the date, breaking the previous record of 13 degrees set in 1972.
On Friday morning, Dec. 5, Battle Creek posted a record-low of 2 degrees, replacing the previous mark of 3 degrees set in 1991. Kalamazoo had a record low of 3 degrees, breaking the previous record of 7 degrees set in 1991.
Multiple Michigan cities reported below-zero temperatures and wind chills, but few even approached records, NWS data show.
