BAILEY, Colorado — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in partnership with the Park County Sheriff’s Office and the Park County Coroner’s Office, is seeking public assistance to identify a man whose remains were found last year.

The remains were discovered on May 28, 2024, in a remote camping area near Bailey on United States Forest Service land. A forensic sculpture has been created to help identify the man, known as "John Doe."

The man is believed to be of Eastern European descent, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 8 inches tall, and aged between 30 and 60. Recent genetic genealogy suggests Slovakian DNA, prompting expanded outreach to Pueblo, Colorado; Omaha, Nebraska; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
