Horror webcam images have shown the moment a man left his girlfriend on Austria's biggest mountain - before she died in subzero conditions. ‌

The pair set off to climb the 12,460ft Grossglockner mountain but came into difficulty just 50 metres away from the summit. Images from webcam footage have shown the woman, 33, from Salzburg, was then left alone for six and a half hours while the boyfriend, 36, went down to get help. ‌

The pictures show emergency lights used by the two mountaineers shining at 6pm on January 18, but that light started to weaken six hours later. Tragically the 33-year-old died in the freezing snow before she could be helped. ‌
