STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The winter holiday season is finally here and with that comes questions regarding how this busy time can impact monthly Social Security payments.
Holidays and weekends can impact the schedule for both traditional Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, a benefit for low-income senior citizens and people with disabilities.
Traditional Social Security payments are based on the day of the month on which you are born and are received on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month. SSI is received on the first of the month.
The December and January SSI schedule will look a little different because of this.
