A major UK energy firm is offering customers eight free hours of electricity on Christmas Day this year as part of its Sunday Saver challenge. EDF Energy is giving the freebie out for any of its members that sign up to its next challenge.

Those that sign up can get eight hours of free electricity on December 25, from 8am to 4pm. You may also be able to earn up to 16 hours of free electricity on Sundays by shifting your electricity usage outside of peak times (4pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday) in its next challenge.

Everyone who signs up for the challenge will get a target to shift some of their electricity usage away from peak hours. The more you shift during the week, the more free electricity you can earn.
