SPRINGFIELD — The victim in a Home Street gun slaying on Sunday has been identified as a 27-year-old Springfield man, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

On Sunday at about 10:40 p.m., police found Shain West suffering from gunshots inside an apartment in the Liberty Heights neighborhood of the city. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where died from his injuries.

Also hurt in the shooting was suspect Daevon Shular, 21, of Seguin, Texas. He was arrested Monday morning at Baystate Medical Center while being treated for a gunshot wound.

Police charged Shular with murder, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and attempt to commit a crime. He is being held without th
