Retail giant Costco Wholesale has joined a growing roster of major companies this week in filing a lawsuit challenging the legality of sweeping import tariffs imposed under the Trump administration and seeking refunds of duties already paid.
Many of the tariffs were launched during the president’s “Liberation Day” announcement on April 2.
With its lawsuit, Costco joins other large-scale firms including Revlon, Bumble Bee Foods, Kawasaki Motors and EssilorLuxottica - parent of brands like Ray-Ban—among more than 70 companies that have initiated similar legal action.
Legal analysts say this marks a turning point: until recently, smaller importers had led the challenge, but now heavyweight firms are publicly staking their claims.
