Violence intervention organization Roca is marking seven years since it started partnering with Baltimore to use behavioral therapy to help young people who have had trouble with the law in the city.
A report unveiled Thursday found that Roca served 354 of the highest-risk young men in Baltimore with a 70% retention rate.
Kurt Palermo is Roca’s executive vice president of Maryland. He spoke on the “C4 and Bryan Nehman” show Friday morning.
“You know, putting these young people in a position where we are challenging their thinking and almost creating kind of this conflict for them,” Palermo said. “Like I could do the same thing and they know what the results most likely going to be, or I could choose to do something different in this three years that I’m at Roca.”
