Maryland friends, family, and former classmates are grieving the sudden loss of Devin “Dev Dev” Braxton, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday.
A fundraiser launched by Omari Braxton says the goal is to raise $5,000 to help with memorial expenses as the community tries to process the loss.
“Devin touched countless lives. He was a friend to all who knew him—generous, loving, hardworking, always full of laughter, and a bright light in every room," he wrote. "His heart for others was truly unmatched. He will be deeply and forever missed."
Friends have been sharing raw, personal messages since learning of his passing.
One wrote, “Damn if y'all can help the family would be appreciated. Went to Wheaton with bruh, and Devin was a chill, funny dude.”
Another family member, Selena Trent, shared her own heartbreak on social media.
“I’m going to miss you terribly Cuzzo/Uncle. This morning’s news of your passing was a shock, and I’m still trying to come to terms with it. Your passing has left me speechless and in a state of disbelief. I’m overcome with emotion and can’t stop crying… It’s hitting me in waves."
As of Friday, more than $2,400 had already been donated in the days following his death on Dec. 2.
"We ask for your continued prayers and comforting thoughts for Devin’s family as they navigate this devastating loss," Omari Braxton wrote.
"Let’s come together as a community to show our love, support, and gratitude for the incredible person Devin was."
