KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders’ ended their season as the Class 3A runner-ups as they ran into powerhouse Westview in the state title game Friday morning. The Chargers dominated the Highlanders, 62-21, in the BlueCross BlueShield Bowl.
Nonetheless, it was still a historic season for Gatlinburg-Pittman. The Highlanders made it to the state championship game for the first time in program history. This was the first time since 2006 that the Highlanders went undefeated in the regular season.
Gatlinburg-Pittman were beating its opponents by an average of 29 points per game, but both sides of the ball did not have much of an answer for Westview.
