PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are asking the public for help in solving a man’s murder in central Phoenix on Thursday evening.

Around 8:30 p.m., Phoenix police officers were called to a shooting near 2nd and Willetta streets , south of McDowell Road. Officers arrived and found 39-year-old Jessie Johnson shot at least once. Johnson was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Details remain limited at this time as homicide detectives work to piece together what led up to the deadly shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. The public can also submit an anonymous tip online.

Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest.
