(Bloomberg) — A federal judge in Florida granted the US Justice Department’s request to unseal grand jury transcripts from the original criminal investigations into Jeffrey Epstein.
US District Judge Rodney Smith on Friday said the transcripts can be released because of a new law requiring the Attorney General to make public all unclassified materials relating to Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. The ruling follows the court’s rejection of a request to release grand jury transcripts related to Epstein in 2005 and 2007.
The latest request to release the grand jury materials follows the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was signed by President Donald Trump last month following months of pressure to disclose more information related to the convicted sex offend
