CANTON — It isn't always pretty with Glenville.

But it's punishing, and the Shelby High School football team felt it Friday, Dec. 5 at Benson Stadium .

Led by its rugged defense, Glenville dominated the OHSAA Division IV state championship game, winning 45-7 in front of 6,011 chilly fans.

It's the third state title in four years for the Tarblooders (12-3), who overcame a sea of penalties by overwhelming Mr. Football finalist Brayden DeVito and Shelby's high-octane offense. Watch Ohio High School Football Live on the NFHS Network all season

The Whippets (14-1) entered Friday undefeated and averaging 45.5 points a game. They hadn't scored less than 37 points in a game.

Shelby had 41 yards of offense at halftime Friday and finished its first state final appearance with 27 total,
