JACKSON TWP. ‒ A car struck an Ohio Department of Transportation snowplow along Interstate 77 earlier this week, prompting the state agency again to warn motorists to be careful around snowplows.

The state agency shared video on social media of the car clipping the front of the plow on Dec. 2, turning sideways and then being pushed along the highway.

The police report shows the snowplow merging onto the highway northbound from Everhard Road NW with the car behind it. The car then passed the plow and struck its front right side as the plow was still merging.

“This is one of eight snowplow hits since Thanksgiving in Ohio," ODOT spokesman Ray Marsch said. "We ask that motorists give our crews plenty of room to work."

There were 54 ODOT snowplows struck last winter.
