The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snowfall in the northern mountains of Colorado this weekend, with up to two feet predicted on Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs.

The I-70 corridor, including the Park, Gore and Mosquito ranges, is expected to get 8 to 15 inches of snow.

The storm will cause wind gusts up to 55 mph, according to the notice from the National Weather Service in Boulder.

“Be prepared for very difficult and dangerous travel conditions across all mountain passes Friday night through Saturday night,” according to the notice.

The storm is expected to begin in the mountains today, likely causing poor travel conditions. The intensity will increase tonight with heavy snowfall through Saturday.
