For the second time in three days, Ontario Provincial Police on Friday were probing a Highway 401 crash involving a transport truck driver investigators say failed to remain at the scene.

In the latest case, an SUV appeared to have collided with the rear of a transport truck in the eastbound lanes of the 401, west of the Putnam weigh scales, which are located east of London, on Friday at 7 a.m., police said.

The SUV driver suffered minor injuries, OPP say.

“If you look at that damage, when I initially rolled up on scene, I thought there would be a lot more injuries involved,” Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a post on social media shortly after 8 a.m.

The transport truck operator pulled over to the side of the road but left before police arrived, Sanchuk said.
