NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Police say that after initially resisting arrest, a man thanked them for intervening before he could murder someone in early December.
It all started Thursday afternoon when police responded to a call for help during an alleged residential burglary along Elm Hill Pike in southeast Nashville. Officers found a man outside a Nashville apartment, there “banging on the back windows” and “causing a disturbance,” per an affidavit.
When officers tried to talk to the suspect, later identified as Edward Coleman, 65, he started to walk away and then stopped.
“Officers went to detain the defendant, and while doing so, the defendant was pulling [his] arms away from officers in an attempt to prevent being placed in handcuffs,” arrest papers said.
