HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Help is pouring in for dozens of people who were left homeless after two apartment building fires this week in Holyoke and one organization’s chapter is providing everything from food to clothing. The Holyoke corps of the The Salvation Army is stepping up to help the fire victims. They were at the city’s resource recovery center at the War Memorial for most of the week.
Salvation Army Lt. Cesar Esquivel said The Salvation Army provided materials to those displaced by the Clemente Street and High Street fires, including clothing vouchers to thrift stores, hygiene products, lunches, blankets, and snacks and hydration. At least 20 to 25 families stopped by the Holyoke corps to collect blankets and food from the community center’s food pantry.
