GARRARD COUNTY Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky family is demanding that a death sentence be carried out decades after a man was convicted of murder.
Randy Haight is on death row for the 1985 murders of Patricia Vance and David Omer in Garrard County. Police say he killed the two after escaping from the jail.
David Vance, Patricia Vance’s son, was 9 years old when his mother was killed in August 1985. He has lived without his mother for 40 years.
“She was buried on her birthday on Monday the 26,” Vance said.
Emotional impact continues
Vance said the loss continues to affect him.
“I had to fight with anxiety, depression, other issues, emotional. I’m 50, still no better than when it happened,” he said.
