Iowa State coach Matt Campbell is reportedly in discussions with Penn State.

ESPN reported the Cyclones' head coach is working toward a deal. Nothing has been signed yet, but Nittany Lions athletic director Pat Kraft and Campbell met in Ames recently.

Penn State has been looking for a new head coach after James Franklin was fired in October following a loss to Northwestern.

Terry Smith took over as interim head coach. They went 3-3 under Smith's leadership.

Iowa State finished the regular season 8-4.

Campbell has been with the Cyclones for a decade and is 72-55 with a 3-4 record in bowl games, passing Dan McCarney's record for all-time wins in program history.
