SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Bass Pro Shops brought a more inclusive approach to a popular holiday tradition for children in the Ozarks.
The retailer partnered with the Deaf Awareness Group of Southwest Missouri to host a “signing Santa” event on Friday. Deaf and hard-of-hearing children sat on Santa’s lap and communicated with a Santa Claus fluent in American Sign Language.
Bass Pro officials say the event helps create a magical experience for children and their families by providing an opportunity they might not otherwise have to communicate their wish lists directly to Santa.
