SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Tonight is one of those nights when you want to make it a point to step outside and look up. Even with a few clouds, this is still our best sky before the weekend brings more clouds and rain chances.
So what is in the sky tonight that is worth stepping outside hoping the mosquitoes don’t notice you? The full Cold Moon, which will look huge and bright over our coastline.
The moon was officially full last night for less than a second, but it keeps that full moon look for a couple of nights. And yes, this month’s full moon does qualify as another supermoon.
Even though we hear that word a lot now, this one actually is the closest full moon to Earth all year, so it will look a little bigger and brighter. It is the grand finale of three in a row this fall.
