An 18-year-old Monticello man who was shot by a Wright County deputy on Nov. 25 faces charges of felony assault.
Dwayne Trunnell was injured and treated at a local hospital. He was charged this week in Wright County District Court with first-degree assault against a peace officer and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, two deputies responded to a report of a man armed with a knife on Golf Course Road in Monticello. The man was later identified as Trunnell.
The criminal complaint says the deputies reportedly ordered Trunnell to drop the knife, but he continued advancing toward them.
The complaint says Deputy Kyle Phillips deployed his Taser, which didn't stop Trunnell. Deputy Benjamin Skweres fired his handgun.
