OAK GROVE, Ky. (WSMV) — With the holiday season underway and food prices still rising, hundreds of military families received help through Operation Homefront’s annual Holiday Meals for Military event.
Held at the Oak Grove Community Center, the event helped 275 families by giving them gifts, toys, gingerbread kits, breakfast bundles and $75 Walmart gift cards to help with holiday meals. In total, more than 800 children were served.
Charlotte Merriam, Senior Director of Volunteers for Operation Homefront, said families in the Fort Campbell area rely on support like this during a financially difficult time.
“It’s a rough time for everyone, no matter if you’re a military person or not, so we’re here thanks to our donors and can help provide a little holiday joy for the military families,”
