ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia and Alabama will play for the SEC title Saturday inside Mercedes Benz Stadium. They’ve played in the title game five times and Alabama leads the series 4-1.

Still, the rivalry feels new again and excitement is in the air.

“Whether you are a Georgia fan or an Alabama fan it’s just a good environment to experience,” Alabama fan Mickey Goodwin said.

Fans packed inside the Georgia World Congress Center on Friday for SEC Fanfare festivities. They got a chance to play some interactive games and show off their team gear.

“I say Go Dawgs,” a Georgia fan said.

The impact of the SEC and this championship game were displayed on signs around Atlanta. SEC universities generate over $119.3 billion for state and local economies.
