LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw was held Friday in Washington, D.C., revealing the matchups that will take place at next summer’s tournament — set to be held in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
The U.S. Men’s National Team will play in Group D against Paraguay, Australia, and a European team to be determined through a playoff.
This is the first World Cup to be held in three different countries and first to feature 48 teams. And when they take to the pitch at 16 different venues across North America, Michigan State University will quietly be front and center.
The MSU Turfgrass Management Program , along with the program at the University of Tennessee , has been tasked with providing the grass fields that will be used at the tournament.
