MASON, Mich. (WILX) - Snow-covered rows of Christmas trees stretch across Tannenbaum Farms near Mason, where families are searching for the perfect tree during what the owner calls a successful harvest season.
Michigan harvests nearly two million Christmas trees annually, ranking among the top producers in the nation. At Tannenbaum Farms, owner Jason Buher said this year’s crop has weathered multiple challenges to reach harvest.
“We have a very good selection this year. We’ve had a good year,” Buher said.
Each Christmas tree grows for eight to nine years before harvest, surviving changing conditions, pests and farm equipment traffic during that time.
