SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A woman has been found guilty of killing a mother and injuring two other women in a shooting last year on South Bend’s east side.
According to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, Rya Barnes was found guilty Friday on all five of her counts. This includes one count of murder, two counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal recklessness.
The shooting happened back on June 20, 2024, on Parry Street , which is not far from the Marine Corps League.
Police said 28-year-old Jasmine Swanson was shot in the head and died at the scene. The other two women suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
