LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A woman was arrested after her two young children were found alone in the street during cold, drizzling weather.

Laredo police officers responded to a lost child call around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Potomac Lp. and S. Ejido Ave. on Thursday, December 4.

Callers reported seeing a 1-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl alone in the street. The boy was barefoot and had a fresh scratch on his right knee. Both children were cold due to the weather.

According to witnesses, the children had been alone for almost 30 minutes before police arrived. Officers found the mother, 32-year-old Yanette Carranco, at her home.

Carranco told police she was getting ready to take a shower around 12:30 p.m. and did not realize her children were outside.
