ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A program at the Ascension Parish Library System is providing new opportunities for adults without a high school diploma to work toward their future goals.
Carlos Contreras, adult education coordinator with the library, said many factors prevent people from completing their high school education.
“That’s a huge array of different reasons why people have not been able to get their high school diploma, from health issues to, unfortunately, unstable homes, illnesses, deaths, even legal issues, pregnancies, teenage pregnancies,” Contreras said. “There’s a lot, so many things that have caused them.”
