EUGENE — Oregon is promoting from within to fill its opening coordinator positions.

Tight ends coach Drew Mehringer and secondary coach Chris Hampton are being promoted to offensive and defensive coordinator, respectively, according to CBSSports.com. A source with knowledge of the matter confirmed Hampton’s promotion to The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Will Stein , who was hired as head coach at Kentucky , and Tosh Lupoi , who was hired as head coach at Cal , are staying on to call plays throughout Oregon’s time in the College Football Playoff.

Mehringer and Hampton each have play-calling experience and are involved in Oregon’s weekly game-planning.
