RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Commerce Department released its new consumer spending report and it shows annual inflation rose at its fastest pace in September in more than a year. The data finds consumer spending increased slightly.
Folks in the Triangle are trying to navigate the economy while also preparing for the holidays.
"It's tough," said Wilson resident Eric Richardson. "I don't think it's improving."
"Everything's more expensive ," said Raleigh resident Annie Lang. "One of the reasons I'm going to Walmart is a product that I need is cheaper at Walmart."
In Raleigh, some business owners say spending seems to be holding steady among customers.
