Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva claims she was pepper sprayed during a tense standoff between anti-ICE protestors and agents in Tucson, Arizona on Dec. 5. Grijalva claimed community members had stopped vehicles supposedly tied to DHS in the middle of the street, when "a very aggressive agent" sprayed her "in the face" with pepper spray. Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin pushed back on Grijalva's claims, writing on X that the congresswoman "was in the vicinity" of someone who was pepper sprayed because they were "obstructing and assaulting law enforcement."
