COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After years of not reporting the millions of dollars it raised to repeal House Bill 6, the committee behind the failed referendum will pay just $400 in fines.
That’s what the Ohio Elections Commission decided Thursday, and Secretary of State Frank LaRose was quick to respond .
“Fine should’ve easily been more than $100,000 based on years of no accountability,” LaRose posted on X. “Today, OEC issued a pathetic $400 fine.”
Ohioans Against Corporate Bailouts formed in July 2019, shortly after House Bill 6 passed. The law created a $1 billion bailout for two nuclear power plants, paid for through new fees on Ohioans’ utility bills.
