OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Ottumwa boys basketball team will take the court Friday against Iowa City West in a facility students have waited 50 years to call home.
Junior Mason Gravett said the new space brings energy to the team this year.
“It’s a different environment from Evans but having everybody on one side makes it look more crowded, and a packed house is always nice at a home stadium,” Gravett said.
For Gravett, what stands out most is breaking in the new court with his teammates.
“Just being able to play with my friends you know I’ve been playing with these guys for years and it’s just all that chemistry we had from years to come,” he said.
The $12 million gymnasium marks the first time the team has been able to play their games in their own building.
