If you’ve seen a lot of car washes in Fort Wayne lately, you’re not imagining things. In late November, a new Drive & Shine opened at 1103 E. Coliseum Blvd., and another is under construction at 4809 Illinois Road.

After hearing friends and family question why we have so many car washes, I decided to embark on a little research project earlier this year for my newsletter.

I tried to count Fort Wayne’s car washes, comparing that number to its population. What I learned might surprise you.
