West Virginia-born, first-time author Chad Story has released a children's book that is not only an ode to Christmas -- but also a loving tribute to the Mountain State.

In the book, "Christmas in the Mountain State," readers will follow a red cardinal -- the State Bird of West Virginia -- on a Christmas journey across the state.

"Every scene is a postcard from home: snowy hills, the shimmering New River Gorge Bridge, and towns buzzing with joy," according to a news release about the book. "Oh, and if you've heard 'Country Roads' about a thousand times, make room for a thousand and one. It’s there, too, setting the tone just right."
