To those of us impatient for action, economic development in downtown Toledo appears to move at a speed that would make a glacier’s advance look fast.

Yet, development does, in time, occur.

The question is whether development occurs fast enough to add up to actual growth or is it just at replacement pace.

A story in The Blade on Monday told us that a Toledo company has applied for landmark designation for two structures on the first block of South Superior Street, the Feilbach and Stanwalt buildings.

Both buildings are in the middle of what is supposed to be Toledo’s hottest development quarter, the Warehouse District, yet both buildings have been underutilized for decades.
