Homewise Inc. is asking the city of Santa Fe to reconsider whether Zorro Blanco, a new apartment project in the south-side Tierra Contenta community, should be subject to housing affordability requirements.

The Santa Fe Planning Commission approved a development plan for the 165-unit Zorro Blanco complex Oct. 16 without asking the developer to offer some units at below-market rates or pay a fee into the city's Affordable Housing Trust Fund — as other developers of multifamily housing have had to do under the Santa Fe Homes Program.

If the city doesn't take action before a deadline Monday to appeal the Planning Commission's decision, Homewise CEO Mike Loftin said, the organization will file its own appeal, based on a belief city staff provided incorrect information about land use codes to
