An underworld heavyweight was plotting to kill one rival and have another’s chest “carved up” a year before he was assassinated outside his Sydney home, text messages reveal.
Mejid Hamzy, the eldest brother in the notorious Hamzy crime family, was shot four times in front of his Condell Park house on October 19, 2020.
Two gunmen were captured on CCTV ambushing Hamzy, 44, before fleeing through nearby streets in Sydney’s southwest.
In the trial of a man police alleged was one of the assassins, who was found not guilty, messages uncovered on Hamzy’s encrypted AN0M phone were tendered as evidence.
They reveal he promised $100,000 for someone to “knock” the major organised crime boss police believe was ultimately behind Hamzy’s death – allegations which were heard in court.
