BRUNSWICK, Ohio – 1973. For some reason, it was the year I started hanging on to my appointment books. I guess people think because I’ve been writing so long, I must keep a diary or write a lot of letters. Just the opposite.

As a pre-teen I had a pen pal who was related to my grandfather and lived in Brazil. We may have exchanged letters four or five times a year. As a teen I tried a diary – barely had anything in it.

I don’t know why I kept most of the appointment books from my office – meaning I have a whole bunch.

A couple of weeks ago, when I came down with whatever that virus is, I was going stir crazy, so – inspired by watching Tiny House Nation where people had to purge their items to fit into their new homes – I started purging.
