A "vicious" attacker stamped on an unconscious man’s head leaving a witness to fear he was dead.

Jack David Anthony Merry, 25, of Union Street, Scarborough, set on the 20-year-old victim on Aberdeen Walk in the town at around 10.45pm on Sunday, September 7.

Riding past on a bike, Merry confronted a group before chasing the victim, knocking him to the ground and launching a flurry of kicks and punches. He then stamped on the victim’s head as he lay unconscious.

Members of the public filmed the assault, allowing detectives to quickly identify Merry.
