A 42-year-old woman from New York, Stacey Taylor, has been charged with smuggling Indian nationals into the United States from Canada. Taylor, a resident of Plattsburgh, appeared in court following an indictment by a federal grand jury in Albany. The charges stem from an incident in January 2025 when U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped her vehicle near Churubusco, New York. Inside, they discovered four men who had crossed the border illegally—three from India and one from Canada.

Investigators later examined Taylor's mobile phone and found messages indicating her involvement in multiple smuggling operations prior to her arrest. Since January, she has been linked to additional smuggling attempts, including incidents in August and September 2025.

Taylor faces serious charges, including conspiracy to engage in alien smuggling and four counts of smuggling for profit, with three counts classified as second or subsequent offences. Each count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with potential for longer sentences due to her repeat offences.

This case is part of a broader initiative known as Joint Task Force Alpha, which aims to dismantle human smuggling networks. The task force has already led to over 425 arrests and more than 375 convictions. Additionally, it falls under 'Operation Take Back America,' a national effort to combat illegal immigration and the criminal organizations behind it.
