Londonderry Township’s fire department reported on social media that it responded to a fatal crash Friday evening on Route 283 .
The crash was reported around 5:30 on the eastbound side of the highway between the Vine Street and Toll House Road exits.
A vehicle went off the road and into the woods. The driver was unresponsive as crews from Londonderry and Lower Swatara townships’ volunteer fire companies cut a path to the vehicle.
However, the driver died at the scene, and the coroner’s office was called in, the fire department said.
The person has not been identified, and the cause of the crash is under investigation by state police.
