Blues Traveler frontman John Popper has had his share of health issues through the years, but what he faced in 2025 … well, the singer told Rolling Stone that it nearly killed him.
And the way he got to his near-death experience was not what one might expect.
“I started 2025, I was just committed to spending March and part of April getting my elbows and my wrist done,” he said on the outlet’s Music Now podcast.
Popper said he had a carpal tunnel syndrome and that when he played he had “a little tremor going on.” So, Popper said, he began a long process to have surgery on both arms.
“While we were doing that, they noticed that I had an atrial flutter,” he said. “An atrial flutter isn’t that big of a deal. Your heart is just beating a little harder than it needs to.
