Syndey Sweeney declared she is “against hate” nearly four months after her American Eagle ad was likened to “Nazi propaganda.”
“I was honestly surprised by the reaction,” she told People of the ad, which was released in July.
“I did it because I love the jeans and love the brand. I don’t support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign. Many have assigned motives and labels to me that just aren’t true,” the “Euphoria” actress, 28, added.
Sweeney, who said she is someone who “leads with kindness,” said she is now addressing the controversial campaign to clarify her position.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I’m always trying to bring people together. I’m against hate and divisiveness,” she told the outlet.
