The Coconino Panthers boys soccer team came away with a tight 2-1 win in their season opener over the Tempe Buffaloes on Friday afternoon at Cromer Stadium, but it did not come easily.

Tensions began to rise in the late moments with the Buffaloes trying to even the score. The heat boiled over with over eight minutes left in the match. A Tempe player gave a Coconino counterpart a hard push after the ball went out of bounds, sparking a shoving match that drew multiple players and coaches into the fray.
