Already the AIA Division II State Champion, Yohanes van Meerten cemented himself as one of the nation's best high school cross country runners with a second-place finish at the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) on Saturday morning.
Running on Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon, van Meerten completed the 5,000-meter race in 15:03.3 to finish behind only Jackson Spencer of Herriman High School in Utah, the nation's fastest high school runner this season, who crossed the line in 15:01.1.
