A Maryland man who disappeared this week after leaving his home without medication or proper clothing was found dead Saturday morning, police said.
Howard County Police announced that 26-year-old Mohammed Halawa was found dead in a wooded area by a search team at around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 6.
Officials confirmed "there are no indications of foul play."
The discovery followed a large first responder presence across neighborhoods and wooded areas off Trotter Road, South Wind Circle, and the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area in Clarksville, where crews had been searching since Halawa was first reported missing, officials said.
Halawa was initially reported missing after he was last seen leaving his home on foot in the 5900 block of Trotter Road on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Family members and investigators had expressed deep concern for his safety because of health issues, freezing temperatures, and the fact that he left without critical medication or a cell phone.
Police said he was “not dressed for the weather.”
In their original alert, police described Halawa as a white male with dark hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing dark sweatpants, a dark green jacket with a white T-shirt underneath, and red flip-flops.
Howard County Police said the investigation remains active, but foul play is not suspected.
