A 19-year-old woman who was hit by a school bus earlier this week in Lakewood has died, Daily Voice has learned.

Sources identified the girl as Angeles “Angie” Nieto Gonzales. Angie's mother launched a GoFundMe campaign in the wake of her death, which had raised more than $6,000 as of press time.

Teresa Gonzalez said her daughter had a bright future. She was a "deeply family-oriented girl, full of life, dreams, and an energy that lit up everyone around her. This tragedy has shaken our entire community and left immense pain in all who knew her.

"Angie was my oldest daughter… my first love, my greatest pride. I loved her with all my heart, and I will miss her in a way I cannot put into words. I don’t know what life will be like from now on without her, but I do know her absence will be felt forever. Her memory will live on in every person who had the privilege of knowing her."

According to NJ Advance Media, Angie, who was not identified in the report, was struck by the bus while riding a scooter around 8 a.m. in the area of West County Line Road near Hope Chapel Road in Lakewood. She was hospitalized with a serious head injury.

Daily Voice has reached out to police for comment.
